Kumar Vikas Saxena, M.A. (Drawing and Painting)

A painter and a dreamer, Kumar Vikas Saxena was born into a gifted family of artists. His father Dr.M.K Saxena, a renowned painter and an art educator, exposed Kumar Vikas Saxena to painting and was his first teacher. He has been painting voraciously and passionately since last 18 years and has explored many mediums including water colors, charcoal and oils on canvas. Life and emotions inspire him. In his paintings he celebrates man’s relationship with stones. He seeks to capture the myriad range of emotions evoked by stones, those of faith and devotion, of awe and romance, of resilience and fluidity. In his own words, “The vastness of possibilities and its inextricable relation with man has inspired the artist in me to capture some of its essence in my canvases, celebrating emotions, celebrating life.” As a Director to Academy of Art and Design, he believes that not all are born artists. But a talent for art can be groomed. Art adds beauty to life and imparts it with more character. A person inculcated with a taste for art develops an aesthetic balance in everything he or she does. Academy of Art and Design aims to nurture aesthetic sense and appreciation of art in children and adults. He is the President of Empowerment, is working closely with Schools, Universities and other like minded organisations world over and hosting cultural events, to bring diverse cultures to the door step of the people who have never witnessed such events earlier. He is also propagating the underlying themes of peace and unity through the medium of art. Empowerment has hosted numerous programs in New Delhi including artists from SAARC countries and has sent Indian Artists to these countries in a move to enhance people to people understanding and make this region a peaceful place.
